by Devon O’Day.  Rutledge Hill Press, 2002.

This collection of short vignettes about the animals that O’Day has rescued is touching, and her rescues range from dogs to horses to cats. Through more than 30 stories, O’Day helps you understand what she means when she says, “Animals exemplify all the qualities God asks of us.  They love without judgment.  They are loyal and caring, and they see through each of us, to the hidden souls of our real beings.” (Publisher review).  O’Day is also the author of another book that I recently read called Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of a Pet, which includes a musical CD related to the loss of a loved one.  I plan to purchase some copies of this book as gifts for friends who have lost their beloved pets.
