Jake just celebrated his first birthday on November 12th and in this short time, he has already lived in two homes, through no fault of his own. His first family gave him to a co-worker because they were raising their grandchildren and also worked long hours, so they had no time for Jake.  We do know that during the time Jake lived with this family, he was great with the young grandkids.  His second family also worked long hours and had a child. They were looking to “replace” a Golden who had gone to the Bridge at the age of 7.  Since she was already 7, and well past the puppyhood, they did not realize they had bitten off more than they could chew.

Jake has a sweet loving nature, and craves attention, something that there just was not enough of in his previous homes.  He knows his basic commands, but he has never been to obedience school.  This is an EGRR requirement for all dogs under the age of 2.  Although Jake is a full sized Golden, he is still really a puppy – Goldens are very slow to mature.  Whoever adopts him will have to start at the beginning with crate training to prevent him from getting into trouble in house.  Gradually, he will learn the rules and turn into the incredible dog he was meant to be.  If you are ready to get an adult sized Golden who is still a puppy, contact EGRR and ask about Jake.  He may be the dog for you!
