Your eyes are not deceiving you. Puck is not a purebred Golden. As a matter of fact we aren’t even sure if he is part Golden. A little research on Turkish breeds makes us believe he is at least part Turkish Akbash. Puck really needed rescuing, and we couldn’t say no to him.
Since both Puck and Peri came to us the first week of April, we decided to go with an April Fools theme for their names. Puck is named for the character in Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Puck was the trickster in this play, who lured the people into the forest. Our Puck tricked us into taking him.
Puck was found crying in the snow. Click on the link PUCK to see and hear him when he was found. The split screen shows him smiling after he was rescued.
A vet exam, the night of his arrival, showed him to be in good health, although like Peri, he is in “iso” as a precaution. Once this isolation period is over, he will be ready for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Can you imagine telling your friends, your dog is a Turkish Akbash. Google it and learn more about this rare breed.
